CH·00 — Caleb Morris

The engineer behind the desk.

Caleb Morris

I’m an LA-born musician turned engineer. For most of my early life I worked to find myself on stage. I wanted to be a frontman.

In college, a professor told me that if I spent half as much time practicing guitar as I did behind a console, I’d be set for life as a guitarist. He had a point. I walked into my undergrad years a guitar player and walked out an engineer.

I still play. But my focus has shifted from being the artist to serving the artist. I’d rather help a musician, a venue, or a church say what they mean through technology that gets out of the way.

These days that means more than a mix. I design and integrate the audio systems institutions run on, program the Q-SYS and the Dante, and stay on to keep them running.
